Air Conditioning
Service & Repairs
in Castle Cove NSW

Artarmon Air Conditioning provides air conditioning repairs, servicing and maintenance and deep cleaning in Castle Cove NSW 2069, twelve minutes from our base in Artarmon on Sydney's Lower North Shore.

Castle Cove is a suburb of large family homes. Most of those homes are cooled by a ducted air conditioner in the roof space, often with a split system or multi-split added later for an extension or a home office. We service and repair all of them, along with package units and VRV and VRF systems, in every major brand.

If your air conditioner is leaking water, not cooling, showing an error code or simply due for a service, a licensed technician will inspect it, find the cause and give you a fixed price before any repair starts. NSW contractor licence 394793C. Refrigerant Trading Authorisation AU60391. Fully insured.

Ducted air conditioner leaking into the ceiling? In Castle Cove that is the first fault we check for.

Most of the suburb was subdivided and built between 1956 and 1970, on ground that falls towards Middle Harbour. Where a ducted system was added to one of these houses later, the fan coil unit went wherever the roof space had room for it and the drain line went wherever it could reach. A long drain with very little fall works until sludge, a sagging section or an insect nest at the outlet stops the water moving. It then backs up into the drain tray and through the plasterboard below.

We diagnose and repair every major brand of ducted and split system air conditioner. Faults we commonly attend in Castle Cove include:

  • Water leaking from a ducted system into the ceiling

  • Blocked or poorly graded condensate drains

  • Zone damper and zone controller faults

  • Outdoor coils blocked with leaf litter

  • Air conditioner not cooling or not heating

  • Error codes and systems that switch off unexpectedly

  • Weak airflow at the far outlets

  • Refrigerant leaks

  • Electrical and control faults

  • Unusual noises from the indoor or outdoor unit

A breakdown call is $299 including GST, which covers attendance in Castle Cove and the initial diagnosis of the fault. The repair is then quoted at a fixed price that you approve before any work starts. If water is already reaching a ceiling, switch the system off at the isolator before you call.

Regular air conditioning servicing keeps a system clean, efficient and reliable. We recommend a service twice a year, and once a year at a minimum.

On a Castle Cove house the two checks that matter most are the drain and the outdoor unit. The condensate drain is tested at every service level and flushed from the Standard level up, because a blocked drain on a ducted system ends up in the ceiling. Outdoor units beside gardens and bushland collect leaves, bark and seed, so the outdoor coil is inspected, and from the Standard level up the debris around the unit is cleared.

Depending on the system and the service level, a service can include:

  • Filters cleaned and inspected

  • Return air filter media replaced on ducted systems, at Standard level and above

  • Condensate drain tested, and flushed from the Standard level up

  • Indoor coil cleaned and disinfected

  • Outdoor coil inspected and debris cleared from around the unit

  • Electrical connections and components checked

  • Cooling and heating test run

  • Operating temperatures and airflow recorded

  • A written report on anything found

We service split system, multi-split, ducted, floor console and VRV/VRF air conditioning throughout Castle Cove. Maintenance starts at $199 including GST for an Essential visit on a single split system. Ducted systems are quoted at a fixed price before we attend.

A routine service cleans what it can reach. An air conditioner deep clean strips the unit back to clean what a service cannot.

On a split system the covers, drain tray and fan barrel come off the wall and are cleaned separately, the coil is chemically cleaned in place, and the drain line is cleared and flow tested. On a ducted system the work is at the fan coil unit in the roof space: the coil, the blower, and the drain tray and line.

In Castle Cove a deep clean is worth booking where there is:

  • A musty smell when the system starts up

  • Black spotting visible on the fan barrel or louvres

  • A ducted system that has gone several years without a service

  • Weak airflow from a coil matted with dust

  • A drain that has blocked more than once

  • Building dust drawn into the system during a renovation

We do not clean flexible ductwork. Where a duct run is perished or crushed, replacing it is the better use of the money, and we will tell you which applies to your system.

Not every room in a Castle Cove home is on the ducted system. Split systems are often the second air conditioner in the house, fitted to an extension, a rumpus room or a home office, and they are the usual choice in the suburb's townhouses and apartments.

We service and repair every major brand, including Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Samsung and ActronAir, and can investigate:

  • Water dripping from the indoor unit

  • Poor cooling or heating

  • Ice on the indoor coil or pipework

  • Blocked condensate drains

  • Refrigerant leaks

  • Failed sensors and fan motors

  • PCB and control faults

  • Remote control and wall controller faults

  • Rattles, buzzing and other noises

A split system that is serviced regularly gives warning before it fails. We record its operating temperatures and airflow at every visit, so a slow loss of performance shows up in the numbers before it shows up on a hot day.

Ducted air conditioning suits the large houses that make up most of Castle Cove, and servicing one properly means going into the roof space, not judging the system from the controller.

In the roof space and outside, we check for the faults that ducted systems develop:

  • Drain lines with too little fall, or no backup if the line blocks

  • Crushed, kinked or disconnected duct runs

  • Zone dampers that stick or no longer follow the controller

  • Fan coil units hung on strapping that has sagged

  • Return air filters that are blocked or overdue for replacement

  • Perished duct insulation on older installations

  • Outdoor units that have settled or tilted on their base

  • Refrigerant, electrical and controller faults

Where a drain has no backup, we can fit a condensate pump with a built-in safety switch, so a future blockage shuts the system down instead of sending water into the ceiling.

If a fault needs parts, or further fault finding beyond the initial diagnosis, you get a fixed price first and nothing proceeds until you approve it.

Refrigerant recovery equipment set up beside two outdoor air conditioning units

Renovating, extending or rebuilding in Castle Cove? An old air conditioner has to be decommissioned by a licensed technician before it comes out, because the refrigerant inside it cannot legally be released.

We recover the refrigerant, disconnect the equipment and give you a written record of the type and quantity recovered for your builder's file. That applies to split, multi-split and ducted systems alike.

Refrigerant is handled in accordance with the Refrigerant Handling Code of Practice 2025, AS/NZS 5149 and the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Act 1989.

Local Aircon Service in Castle Cove

Castle Cove sits on the western side of Middle Harbour in the City of Willoughby, about 11 kilometres north of the Sydney CBD and twelve minutes by road from our base in Artarmon.

The way the suburb was built shapes the air conditioning work we do here:

  • Sloping blocks, where condensate drains have little fall to work with

  • Houses from the 1950s and 1960s with ducted systems added years later

  • Large homes, often with one ducted system and one or more split systems

  • Outdoor units beside gardens and bushland that fill with leaf litter

  • Roof spaces where the fan coil unit sits wherever it would fit

  • Renovations and extensions that change what the original system has to cool

Between services, keep leaf litter away from the outdoor coil and store nothing on top of the unit.
